Here at DEERNESS KENNELS - STRAY ACTION we are committed to re-homing all our stray dogs whenever possible. Click on the side link in the navigation box for Stray Dogs if you have lost a dog. We have a non-destruction policy so that all dogs have a safe haven until a suitable home can be found.  These dogs are mostly homeless through no fault of their own, through family circumstances, owner's ill health, bereavement, being abandoned or abused, or just that their owners don't want them anymore. OUR PLEDGE IS TO KEEP ALL HEALTHY STRAY DOGS UNTIL REHOMED OR PUT IN A PLACE OF SAFETY. In 2005 to 2006 we put central heating in, also double glazing and tiling for our strays and rescue kennels. In 2006 onwards we aim to spend any amount necessary on saving all healthy stray dogs. In 2007 we have built a recovery room for all dogs to be neutered before rehoming if possible. This is a block where they are kept warm and quiet for a few days so they can recover from the visit to the Vets. In 2009 we have had a new reception, shop, and Education Centre Built Please call and visit us to pick up any leaflets you may need WE ALSO HAVE AN   E-A-R   (ELDERLY ANIMAL RESCUE) PROJECT. YOU CAN FOSTER OR ADOPT AN ELDERLY DOG FOR A DONATION IF YOU CAN GIVE HIM OR HER A GOOD HOME.
The Total of dogs not reclaimed are shockingly high October 12 to May 13 = 296 October 11 to September 12 = 624 October 10 to September 11 = 633 October 09 to September 10  =  755 October 08 to September 09  =  700 October 07 to September 08  =  758 October 06 to September 07  =  739 A TOTAL OF 4,475 DOGS SAVED FROM DESTRUCTION We appreciate donations of any kind - dog food (complete, canned, mixers, treats etc). Bedding (sheets or towels) for the dogs to lay on,  also donations of Money is very much appreciated, any donations are spend directly on our dogs.  This all helps to keep the rescue going.
